Monitoring what we eat is something we try to do but can’t always find the time for. During your pregnancy your diet will affect both you and your baby, so do your best to follow your doctor’s directions and keep a close eye on your body’s needs.
Talk to your doctor or midwife about your nutritional needs.
Eating healthy is important, and so is eating a lot – you will need to eat more during the pregnancy to feed both yourself and your baby. Do not restrict the amount of food you eat during your pregnancy – you’ll notice that you will feel hungrier more often. Respond to your body’s needs and you’ll be happy you did.
If you are feeling sick and vomiting, or have no appetite, choose fresh food or food with low-fat content. Cassava, biscuits, bread, sweet potato and fruit are all great options.
Do not drink alcohol or herbal potion during the pregnancy and do not smoke during the pregnancy.
If you are already taking any medications, make sure to check with your doctor or midwife that they are safe for you and your baby.
